The Westinghouse Brake & Saxby Signal Co. Ltd produced the Style 'B' mechanically locked lever frame from 1902, The B was developed from the A in 1902 with the first installed at Harton Colliery in Dec 02. Although the K had been introduced in 1912, and there is not much difference between the two, these were only used abroad until 1923. The K of course was designated to be the "all-electric" version whereas the B had first been designed for electro-pneumatic sites which St Lukes was. The frame was formed of 8 x 12 way sections and 1 x 8 way sections which making a total of 103 levers.
