Liverpool Street signal box on the Central Line was located in the station building. 70ft west from the original west bound headwall. It was opened by London Transport in 1937 and was fitted with a 23 lever Westinghouse 'B' frame which was moved from ?, and was replaced by a panel installed on 08-9/03/1997. This lever frame is now preserved at Bolton Abbey signalbox and is located on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway

Below we have the Metropolitan and Circle Lines Signal Cabin built in 1875, this originally had a 40 lever mechanical frame, the second mechanical frame being installed in 1902. The mechanical frame was superceded by a second hand 15 lever Westinghouse Brake and Saxby signal Company frame, on the 21st February 1954. The new miniature power lever frame was operated normally at first. before a key switch panel was installed adjacent to the frame, then the frame was worked remotely from within the signal box.

The signal cabin then became an IMR and control then passed to Farringdon Push Button Desk. On the 16th December 1956. Control then passed to Baker Street SSC on the 25th March 2001, so as far as we are aware we still have an operational air operated K style frame controlled from Baker Street.

The lever frame is now relocated at the Embassy & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway at Bolton Abbey signal box, which in turn was the ex-Guiseley signalbox. Pictured above in 2007 is the ex Liverpool Street Lever frame which has been re-assembled in roughly the configuration it will retain for its new operation, although there may be further changes as the scheme progresses.
