East Finchley signal box

East Finchley signal box was opened by London Transport on 19th June 1939. It was built to the London Transport Type design and was fitted with a 35 lever Westinghouse 'N' frame (frame number 188)

It closed on the 24th June 1961 when the box was converted to an Interlocking Machine Room.

Owen states 'I guess you can say I had an interesting time as Relief Signal man on the Northern Line at 23 years of age. But the experience came in handy when the line was automated.'
