East Finchley signal box was opened by London Transport on 19th June 1939. It was built to the London Transport Type design and was fitted with a 35 lever Westinghouse 'N' frame (frame number 188)
It closed on the 24th June 1961 when the box was converted to an Interlocking Machine Room. |

Owen states 'I guess you can say I had an interesting time as Relief Signal man on the Northern Line at 23 years of age. But the experience came in handy when the line was automated.'
