Leyton signal box was opened in 1899 by the Great Eastern Railway. It was built to the Great Eastern Railway Type 7 design and was fitted with a Dutton & Company Limited '1893 Patent' frame. The box was transferred to London Transport in 1947. The box was moved rearwards a couple of yards and was extended, the Dutton frame was reduced to 31 levers and a 23 lever Westinghouse frame was installed, possibly all in 1947.
