Westinghouse miniature power lever frame - Keirunga Park signal box

The Keirunga Park Railway signal box with its Westinghouse Brake & Signal Co. Ltd. Style 'L' Power Lever Frame is located at the club track of the Havelock North Live Steamers and Associates, an incorporated society formed in 1985 by a group of enthusiasts who realised that a ground-level multi-gauge track in Hawke's Bay would be an asset to those involved in the hobby of model engineering.

Havalock signal box lever frame has a 35 lever frame that was donated by the New Zealand Railways from Tekauwhata signal box.

The Keirunga Park Railway

The frame is a Westinghouse Style 'L' Power Frame which is all electrically locked. The frame was formed of 3 x 12 way section which making a total of 35 levers, {3x12}-1 = 35 levers, as the last “lever” space is unavailable. 8 of these levers worked the points, 15 signal levers operated the coloured light signals, with 6 spare levers when the frame was supplied and installed. This made the working lever total of 23.

The Westinghouse Brake & Signal Co. Ltd lever frame with its indicators behind the levers, the 3 glass roundels show the signal aspect, being Red, Yellow, Green reading from bottom to top. This picture was taken at Easter 2005 during an open day at the railway, as can be seen the lever frame is very well presented and beautifully preserved. Diagrams

The line is fully signalled with automatic three-aspect colour light signals, with two-position semaphores controlling the Keirunga Park Station area. All turnouts together with the semaphore signals, are controlled electrically by a Westinghouse Style "L" miniature lever frame donated by NZ Railways in the signal box at Keirunga Park. The signal frame was dismantled from Tekauwhata on the main trunk line and bought down to Havelock North and reinstated.
