Header - Ely Station North

Ely Station North was opened in 1880 and was closed on 10 April 1992. It was a Great Eastern Railway Type 2 design built by Stevens & Sons. It opened fitted with a 37 lever Stevens & Sons Tappet frame which was extended from 41 levers (possibly in LNER days). The box was demolished on 27-29 April 1992.

Ely Station North Down Distant
The most famous signal at Ely prior to the mechanical boxes closing must have been Ely Station North signal box's Down Starter which when cleared became Ely North Junction signal box's Down Distant signals. Ely Station South (0m 641yds away) was the adjacent box until 29 June 1985 when it was closed and Ely Dock Junction (0m 988yds away) became the adjacent box until Ely Station North box closed.

To the north
